Lguna Niguel SC Xtreme GU-12 Advance to Bayern Jr. Cup Championship Game

Laguna Niguel SC Xtreme GU-12 team had an exciting end of summer soccer match at the Bayern Jr. Cup tournament. The team played hard through pool play and advanced to the Championship game against North County Pacific Tidal Wave with victories over Westside Breakers Blue 4-0, and Pateadores 1-0.

The final game was the most exciting one taking place Sunday evening. LNSC played a great game against a solid NCP Tidal Wave team. Both teams battled back and forth through 60 minutes of regulation, and two 10 minute overtime periods before the game ended in a 2-2 tie. After the final whistle, it came down to PK’s where NCP was able to place more balls into the net for the win. Laguna Niguel SC Xtreme GU-12 is looking forward to playing NCP again as they will face off in Silver South CSL play this season. Congratulations to all the girls on a hard played tournament.

Davor Fabulich and the U-14 team got the call last weekend to the Home Depot Center for a fantastic opportunity. The boys played a training match against the Girls U-15 National Soccer Team. A common practice for the women's program is to schedule training against slightly younger boys teams from a reputable club who play a quality style. The boys enjoyed the honor and a great day of soccer at the Home Depot Center National Training Complex.

August 14th, 2009 - San Luis Obispo, CA: The tournament was a gathering of 102 of the best club soccer teams in Northern and Southern California, battling it out for bragging rights in the Golden State. 2009 National Cup VIII San Bernardino Regional: Feature 1
[June 23] – Eleven Regional Champions Advance to 2009 National Cup VIII at Virginia Beach
Throughout this four-day event in San Bernardino the competition was fierce as teams were fighting for a ticket to National Cup VIII. For many, the journey stopped here, and the eleven crowned regional champions continue on the road to Virginia Beach.
Regular tournament play was strong as teams fought to stay ahead of the pack in order to ensure their placement in championship games. Due to the competitive nature of these teams there were several teams that advance after many tiebreaker calculations. Various teams proceed to the fourth tiebreaker, goals against, in order to determine who would advance.

After the completion of the morning round of championship games teams in Boys U-13, BU-14, and BU-15 Super Groups celebrated as they were handed their invite to National Cup VIII.

Repeat champs, the Boys U-13 Super Group competitor, Laguna Niguel SC Blue Boys, faced-off against Patreadores U13-4993, and came out victorious.

In his awards presentation, coach Davor Fabulich of the U-13 Laguna Niguel SC Blue Boys shared: “We won last year as U-12’s and this year we get to advance to Virginia Beach as U-13’s.”

Also invited to National Cup VIII post-morning matches, on the women’s side, were ages groups U-12, U-14, U-15, U-16, and U-17.

Highlight championship game for the girls took place between the U-15 Maui United and Chelsea SC G93. During the second round of overtime, Chelsea declared victory after putting one in the back of the net.
“It’s nice to win your right to go somewhere,” stated head coach Mike Silzar of Chelsea SC G93, as he spoke of their future plans for Virginia Beach.

In the afternoon series of games, Girls U-13, Boys U-16, both Super Group and Premier, and Boys U-17 were crowned champions and given their invite to the National Cup.

The fourth year of the San Bernardino Regional brought back several teams and also new winners that will compete in 2009 National Cup VIII at Virginia Beach.

Coach Davor Fabulich, one of the most successful boys club coaches in Southern California, fortunately for the Gu9 team in LNSC, is turning his hand at coaching girls. Any Gu9 players looking to try out should contact Davor Fabulich for try out information.
